New Host City

And Nelson is 8

Nelson will become the 8th NZ city to host an All Black test match. The last time a new city got to host the All Blacks was in 2008, when the All Blacks played Samoa in New Plymouth. Prior to that, Napier did it in 1996 against Samoa, and Hamilton did it in 1997 against Argentina. Since then Napier have hosted 2, New Plymouth 4 and Hamilton 13.

New Plymouth tests - 2008, 2010, 2013, 2017
Napier tests - 1996, 2014
Hamilton - 1997, then 12 further tests since 2002

The big 4 cities have hosted 253 out of 272 home All Black tests. And outside of the big 4 cities the All Blacks have only lost once in 19 tests - v South Africa in Hamilton in 2009.
Of course, all this analysis excludes any World Cup hosting matches in 1987 and 2011.
