How does RugbyQuiz work?
RugbyQuiz has developed an exhaustive and extensive database of All Black test match history and World Cup history - created from general, public records. Our quizzes are created programmatically using this historical database, and supplemented by the addition of a database of manually-generated questions. This allows us to automatically provide over 20,000 question permutations.
What is Era-Adjusted Caps?
Our specifically designed algorithm is designed to account for the variations in tests per season, effectively equalising matches that are available for each year that a player has represented the All Blacks.
The formula firstly discounts replacement caps, then ‘grosses up’ the number of tests available to each player using a consistent multiplier. This effectively provides an alternative measure of each players’ test caps using the professional era as a common basis.
It is intended to provide an indicative measure of each player’s relative caps using a consistent basis - becoming a useful tool to compare players from across different eras.
What is StatsBlog?
StatsBlog is a segment where we publish interesting historical details from our database. These articles may include interesting lists, rugby records, statistical facts and figures, details relating to our Era-Adjusted Caps calculations, and frequent playing XV lists on certain subjects – some factual, some subjective, some distinctly curious.
What are Monday Morsels?
Every Monday – except for when we don’t – we will publish a peculiar rugby fact in our News segment. These are the most curious and odd rugby facts we can unearth – designed to inform, and surprise. These titbits are factual and have been extracted from a wide range of rugby literature or anecdote.
