He played 117 matches for the All Blacks over 13 seasons, and 41 tests between 1977 and 1985. On our Era-Adjusted Caps calculation he would have played 92.25 caps in the modern era. Of course, he was both smart and controversial - in 1983 when he wrote his autobiography 'Boots 'n All' he claimed that his occupation was a professional writer.
